Bottom Up Processing refers to taking in sensory information from the environment, and having an emotional response to that information, before making a thoughtful decision.

Bottom Up OT is here to teach skills and strategies to help with processing and integrating the senses to help the mind and body work successfully together.  For many kids, thinking before acting can be difficult!  By working first on regulation, Bottom Up hopes to help kids feel more calm and organized to be able to make their best decisions.

About Me:

My name is Jessica, and I created Bottom Up OT as a way to share the ideas that I have come up with over eleven years of working with at-risk youth and kids with difficulties in sensory processing.  I have worked in schools, inpatient hospital, and community based mental health after graduating with a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of New Hampshire.  Teaching about sensory strategies for regulation and coping has become a passion for me, and I am fortunate to be able to do this in my full-time job and through consultation and training for local colleges, hospitals, and within the community.

I am also a mom of two fabulous kiddos, one new puppy, and the wife to my best friend since high school.  Together we love to craft (obviously!), play games, travel, and be outside.  Halloween is a favorite for us, and it makes me super happy to make themed costumes for the whole family each year.  So stay tuned….
